Designing
with Pantone Colors
How
does it work?
For example:
A graphic designer is designing an identity package. She looks
through a Pantone
solid fan guide, finds a Red color she likes, and then specifies
that color (Pantone 187 Red) for the business cards, letterheads,
and other corporate printing.
The
client opens their Pantone guide, looks at the color, ok's the
proofs, and the job is sent on to the printer.
The
printer receives the files from the designer, and specifies
on the job ticket, Pantone 187 red. The pressman finds that
color (Pantone 187 Red) in their Pantone guide, mixes the ink,
and prints the business cards and stationary, checking color
against his Pantone formula guide.
Throughout
the process, the color 187 Red has been specified. If the designer,
client, printer (and their pressman) have Pantone guides, they
are all looking at the same color. In other words, no surprises
when the client looks at their finished project, and, no costly
reruns.
If your design software doesn't include the Pantone palette,
you can install
Pantone colorist 2.0 software and incorporate the 1,114 Pantone
solid colors in your design projects.
